◉ About me
Hi, I’m Chuck Washington!
Retired Airline Pilot
Former Navy Officer/Naval Aviator
Small Business Owner
Past Mayor Murrieta & Temecula
My wife, Kathy, and I moved to Murrieta in 1989 with our 6-year old daughter, Lindsey, who was starting first grade. I had started flying for Delta Air Lines in 1987 after nearly seven years of active duty service in the Navy. As a new pilot for Delta, my first base was LAX and I had hoped for a better commute to the airport from Southwest Riverside County. We quickly became immersed in our new hometown and served in many volunteer roles. I was honored in 1995 as the Murrieta Citizen of the Year. My numerous days off as an airline pilot ultimately led to my decision to run for Murrieta City Council in 1995 and I served one 4-year term ending in 1999 as Mayor. I did not run for re-election and, in 2000, we relocated to Temecula where we continue to reside. / Meanwhile, at Delta, I promoted to Captain in 1999 and took a break from elected offices but continued in several roles as a volunteer which included Habitat for Humanity and the Boys and Girls Club. I also joined the Board of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce where I learned a great deal about local, small businesses. My volunteer activities led to the honor of being named Temecula Citizen of the Year in 2003.
◉ My Service
A History of Service
Since moving to Southwest Riverside County in 1989 with my growing family, I have felt a desire to devote myself to numerous worthy causes including Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary. I was honored to be named Citizen of the Year in both
Murrieta (1995) and Temecula (2003).
United States Navy
My service in the Navy as an Officer and Naval Aviator imbued me with the gratification of serving a mission larger than one’s self. Since leaving the Navy, I have sought to find ways to contribute to my community.
Experience Matters
My experience as a Navy Officer, and an Airline Captain taught me about leadership. And then serving on the Murrieta City Council and the Temecula City Council prepared me for the job as County Supervisor. However, in many ways, the Supervisorial responsibilities encompasses so much more. These include: social services, public health, our criminal justice system, environmental health, waste resources, and flood control. My experience with these areas is critical for the success of our County agencies.
Community Outreach
Our Third District Team is ready to assist our residents with issues affecting their quality of life. Like me, they are committed to providing outstanding public service!
